MORNING GAMES

Games are the heart of Dragonmeet. Games will be taking place in the first floor gallery rooms, accessed through the back of the trade hall.

Game Booking opens

November 1, 18:00 GMT

The Fast and the Farriers Adam Taylor, 5 players - Peacekeepers

Peacekeepers is a light-hearted, fantasy, investigative game. Players take on the role of the city guard in a fantasy city. It is suitable for players with any level of RPG experience, including none. PCs will be provided.

Chief Constable Twoldfer Thischitt is in an even worse mood than usual, he (along with just about everyone else in the city) has been kept awake of late by noisy centaur street-racers, clattering through the streets at night. Now there seems to have been some kind of accident, and it’s your job to investigate.

A Beautiful Death Alec Johnson, 5 players, Spire

Welcome to Spire – a mile-high city-tower of decadence, oppression and occult weirdness. You’re a dark elf revolutionary, sworn to overthrow your colonial high elf overlords by any means necessary.

And today, at a long-awaited gallery opening, Viscount Dapple-Dawn-Drawn has been murdered.

Good. He was on the list anyway.

Was it an embittered servant, a jilted lover, a rival poet or a notorious serial killer?

It doesn’t really matter. What does matter is making sure the paladins don’t blame a dark elf. If they do, they’ll execute savage reprisals throughout the city.

So you need to get over there and make sure all the evidence points to a high elf. Any high elf. The nastier the better. Then make sure the paladins arrest them for it. Maybe they did it, maybe they didn’t, but either way – it *will* be justice.

Spire is a fast-flowing game of rebellion and conspiracy. You can expect straightforward rules, hideous villains, unique classes, and powers that can transform the adventure around you.

The Organ Rail Alex Kither, 5 players, Frontier Scum

You are prisoners aboard the Organ Rail, a penal train clad in black iron, spewing blood-red smoke as it rattles across the tracks of the Big Nothing. Rumours say its belly-vault contains the confiscated swag of a thousand robberies gone wrong.

The next stop is Fort Gullet, where you’ll be hanged for your crimes, so you better get a wiggle on! To get out alive, you’ll need enough supplies to get you across the sweltering sands to the swamp-oasis of Sickwater; no straight-shootin’ lawfolk would ever set foot in that veritable rat’s nest o thieves and outlaws. Yup, that’s your only chance.

Of course, it couldn’t hurt to have a look in that vault while your here…could it?

FRONTIER SCUM is an acid-western, fantasy tabletop roleplaying game by Karl Druid, inspired by the MORK BORG system.

To Be A Pirate Queen Andrew Moreton, 6 players, Runequest

Following your ending up being stranded at sea, you have been rescued by a Wolf Pirate ship. Fortunately their captain just died , and now you get to compete to be the new captain or become a slave.

Pregen characters, suitable for beginners I will have spare dice.

Mall Rats Andrew Wright, 6 players, The Walking Dead Universe AMC Roleplaying Game

Your character is part of a group of survivors that escaped the devastation of Atlanta and found their way north to a small cabin nestled within woodland in the Sawnee Mountain Preserve.  Earlier today whilst out on a supply run to a local gas station some of your group were attacked and your leader, Katherine was shot.  Without advanced medical gear she will be dead within the next 24 hours.  It’s a long shot but the group knows of an abandoned shopping mall on the outskirts of a nearby town that has a pharmacy / clinic that may have the supplies that Kathy needs.  It’s a dangerous mission but you volunteer to check it out.

In this Walking Dead one-shot players will have a choice of pre-generated characters to play and do not need to have any experience of playing the Walking Dead Roleplaying game to join in.  The game is played with six-sided dice. These will be provided if players do not have them.

This scenario will deal with adult themes (for example but not limited to survival horror, violence, death, gore) that you would expect to find in the TV show.  Minimum Age 18.

Graveyard Shift Andy McLaren, 5 players, Warhammer 40k Wrath & Glory

Graveyard Shift is an investigative adventure set in the grim dark Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Futuristic Gothic horror, violence and mystery are to be expected.

The story is focused on the recovery of the Revelator, a piece of xenos (alien) technology.

The players are hired under strange circumstances by Inquisitorial Interrogator Prodita Mendax, and sent to the cemetery moon Daedalon to retrieve the xenotech device.

Pathfinder Society #8-02: The Fey Reclamation Antonio Ricciardi, 6 players, Pathfinder 2e

The Thane, a fey monarch of great power, had their eyes drawn to the Pathfinder Society when agents were drawn into one of their celebrations. They have decided to play a game with the Society, with the fate of Bhopan, the small island off the Impossible Lands, at stake.

Bhopan is small, and strongly tied to the first world, and they cannot hope to stand against someone as powerful as the Thane, especially as it’s only been half a decade since they were freed from fey tyranny by the Society before. Only the Pathfinder Agents can navigate the fey trickery to protect this ally of the Society.

The Red Road Chris O'Regan, 5 players, Draw Steel

The Red Road is a Level 2 heroic fantasy quest for Draw Steel that thrusts the heroes into a high-stakes race against time to defend the isolated settlement of Asher from a savage gnoll warband. As the raiders pillage the countryside and take hostages, the party must balance hunting down raiding parties and rescuing captives with fortifying the village, all before a dynamic, multi-stage siege against the warlord’s forces reaches its bloody climax.

Tank Wars Christopher Dean, 6 players, Is It a Plane!?

You’re the Hypertanks, a team of war machines imprinted with copies of human minds, and heroes of the Human Arachnoid War.

You are part of a parade celebrating the War’s end. Everything is going well, until ominous shapes form in the sky…

Tonally, this will be like an early 90s arcade shooter meets action-adventure cartoon.

Is it a Plane!? is a published RPG that replaces dice rolls with rapid doodles in limited time! Whenever you do something that would normally require getting some dice out, you instead must doodle what you are attempting to do. Nobody has the time for artistic skill, so stick figures are all you need. And although you cannot tell the Editor (GM) exactly what you’ve drawn, you can point out any stats you are using from your character sheet, and indicate any elements of a scene that have already been described as clues to help them interpret your panels.

The Fell Tide Ciara McDonnell, 6 players, Dungeons and Dragons (5.5)

The land of Canopus is a cold, dark, desolate wasteland dominated by the vast, sweeping grounds of its colossal prison. Beyond this grim monolith sits naught but an expanse of lifeless ruins. Cracked and hollow structures, dead cities, all divided by writhing streams of pure darkness. And overhead, ever looming, ever hungry, lies the sea which feeds them.

The Fell Tide has been there for longer than any records can recount. It moves in near indecipherable patterns, sometimes descending in a slow ebb, and sometimes with enough force to rend the ground into pieces. All that is known is whatever the Tide takes, it will never let go. It is for this reason that the majority of Canopus has — even to this day — remained largely unexplored. And countless histories, artefacts, and treasures, undisturbed.

This is for level 8 character pregens.  Age limit 15+ and not ideal for beginners.

Sweet Sorrow: LA SP 3-1 Ciaran Doidge, 6 players, Living Arcanis 5e

A serial killer stalks the streets of the First City. As the threat grows, will you answer the call to end the

danger and bring back peace, justice, and good fortune for all, or will you, too, fall victim to this unknown fatal force?

(Pregens available)

Berlin Burning is an espionage adventure set during the height of the Cold War adapting the Year Zero Engine for grounded action where the slightest of missteps could raise the heat and trigger retaliation. The focus of the game is more aligned with le Carré novels or Slow Horses than James Bond or Mission Impossible. Potential content warnings: Violence, betrayal, death (while torture is a staple of the genre this will be x-carded if introduced).

Minimum Age 15+

What's mine is yours Dan Marriott, 6 players, 13th age 2nd ed

Escape the Tarrasque! Gethin Pearce, 6 players, D&D 5.5e

Fortunately this presents you all with the once in a life time opportunity to explore the wondrously gross internal digestive system of the world’s most legendary monster. Think of all the things you will discover inside.

A whacky adventure in the style of The Magic School Bus, fun, dangers, magical treasures await this romp through the insides of the greatest monster in D&D.

Rodney has our acorn! Graham James, 5 players, Pico: A whimsical, bug-driven TTRPG

Rodney the Toad, for reasons best known to his amphibian self, has taken the Sovereign Acorn!  Someone has to get it back otherwise this year’s annual conference of the Acorneers won’t take place!  Well, that hasn’t happened since… Actually, nobody can even remember that far back.  Somebody has to do something, obviously.  Yes, that means you.

The 13th Skull Gregory Knight, 5 players, Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG

The Duke has a problem. An ancient blood debt has come due and his teenage daughter has been taken as payment by a mysterious demonic force. The PCs are called upon to enter an ancient family crypt and rescue the child before its too late! This is a short but vividly-realised and creative dungeon crawler from Goodman Games, revised and expanded by the GM. Warning: adventure contains dark and mature themes, not for the faint-hearted.

The Ashen Grove Ian Sandford. 5 players, Dragonbane

The Ninth Legion marched north into Caledonia three months ago. Five thousand Roman soldiers vanishing without trace;  infantry, cavalry, officers and engineers.  Rumours have since spread like wildfire across the Province of Britannia. Was the Legion slaughtered to a man by the Caledonian tribes or secretly disbanded by the Roman Authorities in disgrace? The more fanciful talk of the Legion being taken by the old gods or maybe just marching straight off the edge of the world.  Nobody knows for sure.

For the past two years, the five of you have served as Roman Governor Quintus Pompeius Falco’s unofficial investigation unit. A small, deniable team used when the truth must be uncovered quietly, efficiently and without political scandal.  You have summoned again privately to meet with Governor Quinitus.  His voice was low, urgent, and edged with fear. “Legio IX Hispana is gone. No bodies. No deserters. No word. You will go north. You will find out what happened. And you will return.”

{A game of Roman imperial grit meeting Celtic folk horror. 18+ though more for the harshness of the world rather than scary scenes of horror}

Retrieve Relna's Reliquary Jon Jowett, 6 players, Era: Dragonsong

This world has many wonders: the 8 races of sentient beings, the 2 great systems of magic, the many ancient archaeopolises floating in the sky – and, of course, the reclusive dragons.

A century ago, one of the mysterious sky-cities crashed to earth a hundred miles from the stronghold city of Oresa. Over the decades that followed, some form of magical corruption leaked from the wreckage, slowly transforming the entire region into an impassable quagmire now known as the Twisted Forest.

The rural market town of Tanville, located a day’s travel from the edge of the Twisted Forest, has suffered such an unlikely series of disasters that it almost seems to have been cursed. The town’s priests are convinced that this “curse” is in fact the absence of a blessing – the reliquary of the local saint, Relna, was left behind when her sanctuary cathedral was swallowed up by the corruption. If it could be retrieved, it could be used to bless the land, and Tanville would surely return to normality.

Your party of adventurers has been hired by Tanville’s priests to retrieve the reliquary of St Relna. The pay is uninspiring, to say the least – and you suspect that you aren’t the first people they’ve hired.

On the other hand, you’re broke, you’ve been provided with all necessary equipment, and there surely will be other treasures left behind in the ruins…

This session is suitable for both beginners and veterans of the system!

Pre-generated characters will be provided.

The Rye Descent Lee Hume, 6 players, Awake in Fright

When a boy is rescued from a sinkhole near Rye, he is unable to speak and his rescuer stricken with a strange disease the locals believe dates back to an ancient curse. Netherwood Academy calls you in to investigate, putting you at odds with the authorities and the distrusting townfolk.

What evil lurks in the bowels beneath the town and will you have what it takes to survive it.

This game is a dark horror ‘theatre of the mind’ with adult themes suitable for 6 mature players. It uses a new D12 system being playtested and so all feedback is welcome.

Ran a version of this last year and have now updated.

Checkpoint Please Leo Cosh, 6 players, Era: The Consortium

In the far future, Humanity and aliens are ruled over by a group of companies, known as the Consortium. However, due to intense dissatisfaction, a Resistance movement has risen up. The battle against corruption is never-ending and, perhaps unsurprisingly, turned nasty quickly.

It’s rumoured that a Resistance unit is intending to land on Abnoab. But, let’s be honest, the big wigs are always saying that sort of thing.

You’re just Border Control Station officers, so just do your job as normal: check the people who are landing, make sure they aren’t smuggling anything in their cargo, or carrying weapons in illegally.

Plus, you can pretty much rely on the security technology – Open Tech has spared no expense to lock down this port, especially given that it’s close to the company’s primary block of facilities on this world.

If you find anyone suspicious, you know what to do: arrest them, throw them in the cells, call the investigation division, then return to your post.

Whatever happens to them as a result of their transgression is up to you.

This session is suitable for both beginners and veterans of the system!

Pre-generated characters will be provided.

Sea of Dead Men Liv Wake, 6 players, Forged in the Dark

Yo ho ho! Ready your rapiers, flintlock your pistols, and prepare to walk the plank, because we’re going sailing! Sea of Dead Men is a pirate-themed Blades in the Dark hack revolving around the (un)glamourous life of a pirate. Expect plundering, looting, rum drinking, and roleplayed melodrama all around.

Beginner friendly; no prior knowledge of the system  required!

The Village of the Day Before Louis Toogood, 5 players, Dragonbane

Seven centuries ago, there lived a man named Kato the Curious, a magician who served the dragon emperor Eledain but betrayed his ruler’s trust. When his disloyalty was discovered, Kato’s tower and the surrounding village of Blackridge were consumed by dragon fire. Rumour has it that he now haunts the ruins of his tower. The village has resisted looting over the centuries but is said to be home to all manner of treasures. As Adventurers, you intriguingly decide to make your way there and recover whatever you can find…

Dragonbane is a fast paced TTRPG with dangerous combat, weird dice rolls where 1 is a critical success, and overall a streamlined experience which is all as fun as other Fantasy games. Expect in this adventure some roleplaying and a big puzzle to solve.

Starfinder Society Scenario #2-01: The First Cut Mark Rawley, 5 players, Starfinder 2E

A mysterious transmission broadcast to every screen and comm unit across Absalom Station heralds a magical attack on the streets of the station itself. As roiling red spheres rain blood on the streets, spawning violent monsters with every drop that falls, panic grips the populace and soon, it’s the people who bleed. Battle bloodspawned beasts to save your fellow civilians on the streets of Absalom Station!

Daggerheart Matt Adams, 4 players, Daggerheart

Deep in the Sanguine Forest, the Brandyberry Outpost serves as a key line of defence, protecting the many resources foraged, collected, hunted, and gathered for the city of Elmsmoor.

The outpost ensures that these vital supplies remain safely out of the hands of bandits, forest-dwelling creepy crawlies, and mischievous creatures who might otherwise decide to claim them for themselves.

Recently, contact between Elmsmoor and the Brandyberry Outpost has gone dark. No messages have come through, and no supplies have arrived. Elmsmoor sends in a covert team to sneak through the dangerous forest, discover what has caused the silence, and offer whatever assistance may be needed.

This is a Tier 1 Daggerheart one-shot suitable for both new and experienced players. Expect homemade terrain, dangerous encounters, and multiple ways to complete your objective.

Prexaria Fell Matt Boothman, 5 players, Spindlewheel

The Regent of Prexaria Fell has summoned the ruling families to their grandiose, crumbling manse for three days of feasting, masquerade, and politicking over the uncertain future of their once-great city-state.

Will you play a powerful noble, certain of the Regent’s favour? A minor upstart cousin with something to prove? A put-upon servant, about to break? A member of a secret society with your own nefarious agenda? A spy from a neighbouring nation, determined to undermine the delicate balance of power? The Regent themself?

Whatever’s in the cards for you, we’ll play to decide your fate. Whether you rise or fall – and Prexaria Fell along with you.

*Interpret the cards to tell the story*

Spindlewheel by Sasha Reneau (Teacabbage Games) uses an original deck of beautiful, poetic oracle cards to spin a world, characters, and action at the table.

We’ll interpret a spread of cards to create our table’s unique version of the teetering Gothic magnificence that is Prexaria Fell. Those cards then become our Arbiter deck.

We’ll draft and interpret cards to make our characters. Those cards will become our hands – essentially our character sheets.

When roleplaying starts, anchoring an action by playing a relevant card from your hand makes that action significant to the story. Each scene, we’ll build threads of overlapping cards, playing from our hands when our characters take action, drawing from the deck or the Arbiter to answer questions about the world, and trading cards as our characters’ relationships deepen.

Pathfinder Society Intro: Year of Clockwork Mystery Matt Hoare, 5 players, Pathfinder 2E

Pathfinder Society adventure for 1st-2nd level characters, playable in 2-3 hours.

Pregens are available.

Much of this trade is centered in Riddleport. The Pathfinder Society is doing what it can to obtain these relics to catalogue and preserve them, and has amassed quite the stockpile in a warehouse within the city. This makes for an irresistible target for some pirates. It’ll be up to the PCs to see that these treasures are kept safe.

Starfinder Society Scenario #2-03: Bittersweet Nicola Barnes, 6 players, Starfinder Society 2E

Theseus Is Dead Nouman Laumry, 5 players, Shadowdark

Deep within the labyrinth: an agonised scream, and a terrifying bestial roar of triumph. Your worst fear has come to pass: Theseus is dead.

Theseus had a sword in his hand and the blood of gods in his veins. You have the clothes on your backs, and your bare mortal wits. How will you and your fellow sacrificial offerings escape?

TONE: Serious, but not self-serious. The PCs will be having an awful time, but we players will be toasting their victories and bemoaning their deaths with the amused detachment of Olympian gods.

CONTENT WARNINGS: Situations of violence and danger typical to fantasy RPGs. I should also say that the Minotaur’s own backstory involves an inter-species coupling (ah, myths).

SAFETY TOOLS: Open door, rewind/fast forward, X-card. Be kind, assume positive intent.

SYSTEM: Shadowdark is a fast and simple fantasy RPG system, that often supports a relatively grounded and gritty playstyle. Newbies are welcome, and will pick up the system in no time! The key point for this game is that player ingenuity will be much more important than character stats or build. (NB: pregenerated characters will be provided.)

Based on the hit magical girl anime, Sailor Moon, you the players will assume the roles of the Sailor Guardians, Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto and Mina, as they fight to fend off the forces of evil in this lost episode.

Something strange is afoot at Impresario Bloodheart’s Emporium of Irredeemably Cursed Trinkets (formerly Fun Uncle Bloodheart’s Cheesecake Factory).

Since opening on the edge of town, the self-styled Merchant of the Macabre has failed to generate much word-of-mouth, but largely due to the fact that no one who has entered his bazaar has been seen since.

Normally, supernatural disappearances would be an unremarkable event in the city of Freshpines. However, the ectoplasm emanating from the site’s walls and nightly sounds of ancient secrets shrieked in long-dead languages have been disturbing local residents’ sleep, and the mayor has employed a group of adventurers to investigate the site, and remedy the disturbance by any means possible.

Will our heroes be able to locate and nullify the cause of occult chaos and maybe even grab a bargain to boot? (Impresario Bloodheart’s Emporium of Irredeemably Cursed Trinkets takes no responsibility for any instances of possession and/or Faustian consequences following purchase. All sales are final).

Delta Green - Operation SIGMUND Tom Williams, 5 players, Delta Green

You smell pine. You look down; a surgical gown. Your hands are wrong. You realise you need glasses, you never did before. You hear a vehicle approaching through the trees. What will you do, when “you” is an unknown quantity?

A group of seemingly ordinary people wake up in a mountain forest with no memory of how they got there. Flashes of fire, screaming, a painful green light. They all have terrible, confused memories of being the same special forces soldier. Offered a single chance to understand what is happening to them, and to right this wrong, can they unravel the mystery, unmask their foe, and master their shattered selves?

Scenario CW for loss of identity, suicide and self harm. Delta Green is a game of deep personal and cosmic horror, so we will use lines and veils and the X-card to make sure everyone can have (mind numbingly terrifying I hope) fun at the table
